hit on the head with wood, seeing stars, nose hurts ?

my friend had a big piece of wood come down on his head,
he has a decent sized lump on the back....about a golf ball or bigger.

said he was seeing stars and his nose hurts..( although not hit )

he went to the hospital , they fixed his cuts but they didnt examine his head...

should i be worried?
could he have a concussion ?

They probably checked his pupillary reflexes (among other things) and decided there was no concussion and nothing that required treatment, Usually, if a concussion is suspected, they would have kept him for an observation period. It also depends on where the impact to his head was.

It takes a good knock on the head to "see stars," but that doesn't mean ther's any permanent damage.
