unplayable lie or not? And a question about backspin.?
I was playing the other day and my ball stopped about 50yards from the green and a few inches behind a small sign saying "carts must remain on cart path". We decided it was an unplayable lie and i moved my ball a few inches to the right so i could hit my shot. On tour would i have been able to move it or would i have had to try and shoot over the sign?
Also alot of times ill be near the green and i always overshoot it with my lob wedge or undershoot it if i try to shoot soft. How can i put spin on it so it just lands and stops?
The sign is a movable object and can be set aside so that you could make the shot and then replaced. By putting your hands on the ball you incurred a stroke penalty. As for spinning a ball most is the function of proper placement in the stance, a steep down swing with accelerated swing speed, hitting the ball before the turf so that the club grooves grab the ball and give it a reverse spin so that it stops.More often the mph of such a swing are 115 to 130.
