How tall should I be to play hitter for mens volleyball in high school?

Hi I'm a junior in high school and am 5'11 and I have been playing volleyball for a while now and was wondering if my height is good enough to get a hitters position. I mean I'm good at setting and passing, but something about hitter sounds really exciting so if you guys could help me out that would mean alot! Thanks

It depends on what position you are planning on playing. You would be too short to play as a middle hitter at the varsity level. Usually Rightside are tall as well since most balls are set to the outside and you need a big blocker. An Outside is usually around 6'1 6'2 in high school. I have a friend that was a starting outside at 5'10 and went on to play college ball at Pepperdine. What he lacked in height he trained to make it up with his vertical. Having a 42" vertical helped. The only issue you will run into is having shorter limbs for blocking but I would say do not let height discourage you. Learn to his a ball with a lot of topspin and get your vertical up and there no telling where you'll be able to play
