knowledgable Bird owners only please...my tiel may have swallowed something harmful?

My cockatiel was sitting on my shoulder the other day and was nibbling at my earrings...I have the hoops from a piercing studio that have the ball in the middle to secure the close of them (if that makes any sense) I didnt realzie it at the time, but he removed all 3 balls from 3 of my piercings and I cannot find them. They are pretty small, but larger than a seed. Stainless steel too. If he did ingest them, will they pass? His poop today is kinda red, may be blood but it could also be from the colored food he has been eating......

He seems fine otherwise, eating, singing ect.....But could they get stuck in his intestinal tract and cause problems?? How will i know?? Please help with any advice! Thanks

Birds are really good at hiding illness. This is because in the wild, if a bird shows weakness, it will make easy prey to any predator. Also, birds that are ill, often get turned on by the flock, So showing illness is very dangerous.

So, if you feel that there is a chance that he ate it, then I would take him to an emergency vet and do an x-ray. You never know what your bird is really feeling, and often times people don't realize something was wrong until they were too late.

I say, if anything red comes out of the body, get it checked out!

This could be fatal for your cockatiel.

I hope that he just threw the balls somewhere else, and his poop is just red from the food.
