Why did Rick Hendrick Fire Mears and Vickers who's performance was superior to Junior?

Casey Mears and Brian Vickers both received a "Pink Slip" from Rick Hendrick for basically decent performance but not living up to "Hendrick" standards. Yet Dale Earnhardt Jr has had "miserable" performance for 2.5 years and not even the slightest hint of firing...what gives?

Might not get best answer for this, but the truth needs to be said.

Brian Vickers was fired by Hendrick, but the truth is that Brian never fit in with the team with the top evidence being that Vickers wrecked Jimmie Johnson (Vader for those who join the chat each Sunday) and Dale Jr. for the win at Dega in 2006.

It is also important to note that Dale Jr. and Casey Mears were teammates for one season in 2008 which was one in which Mears struggled after crashing in the link below. As a result, he was let go in favor of Mark Martin.

So I would invite you to follow the dollar signs. Rick Hendrick already has more than enough from the sponsorship deals brought in by Jimmie and Jeff Gordon, but it doesn't hurt to maximize revenue.

Therefore, here is the truth: Rick Hendrick has only so much patience when it comes to his drivers. Consider the truth about Dale Jr.

2008: Had a ok start to the season and had a great season winning a race and running hard with Kyle Busch (who actually wanted out of Hendrick like Brian Vickers) for the early part of the season.

2009: Had a horrible start and never made the chase despite Hendrick throwing money at the problem.

2010: This year they changed crew chiefs and there are still problems despite being in the top ten in chase standings until May. Hendrick Motorsports has thrown money at the problem this season and all Dale Jr. has to show for it is one complete pole which was won in Atlanta and he lost the lead just one millasecond after the drop of the green flag. My guess is that Dale Jr. will be let go very soon with Kasey Kahne driving the number 25 next season. Meanwhile, the "5" is Mark Martin's for as long as he wants that ride.
