GOLF club beginner question!!!?

I was wondering if anyone could help me decide between:

Wilson Profile Power Complete Set

Wilson Profile Hybrid Complete Set

Top-Flite XL 7000 Complete Set

OR this new set I just saw Wilson came out with:

Wilson Prostaff LCG

If you could id like pros and cons of the ones you'd recommend. I am a beginner player who will be taking lessons on a regular basis and is looking for a set that will be good as I become more experienced.

What is your objective? Just to go out and have fun with the guys? Or to steadily improve in hopes of one day shocking the world on the 72nd hole of the u.s. open?

In other words are you trying to be your best, just relax and have some fun? Are you going to go study the swing, hit lots of balls, and forsake all who once cared about you in the name of breaking 80?

If you dont see yourself spending lots of time working on your swing, check out some game improvement sets. Many more of these sets are available nowadays, thanks to some people like callaway, adams, taylor made, golfsmith, and of course nike.

most of the sets you mentioned would be for someone who just wants to go out and have a little fun. if you want to improve or have fun, someone mentioned an adams hybrid set...excellent choice. game improvement without questionable workmanship.

retail sets tend to be made with cost in mind, not performance. and, the wilson or topflite names are just pasted on. wilson is a good example of pricepoint marketing of prolines and retail lines. prostaff....obviously proline. all the cheap stuff..retail lines. wilson is not a bad brand, but they delve lower than most in their retail lines.

for a few dollars more, you can get a proline set (as opposed to a retail line set), and not be coming back in a few months, wanting something to beat your buddies with.

i learned with an old set of wilson prostaff blades. not a good plan if you want to have any fun in the first 2 years of playing. however, this accelerated my improvement and ultimate shot manipulating ability. so, there is a definite tradeoff.

i tell people, be happy. buy used clubs first, but buy good used clubs.
