Is it OK to have regular shafted irons with a stiff shafted driver in my golf bag?

I use Tommy Armour 845 irons with regular shafts. I was looking to buy a TaylorMade Burner with a stiff shaft. I seem to swing my driver a lot faster than I would my irons. I heard that it's bad to mismatch shaft stiffnesses. Is this true?

If that's what you've been fitted for and/or it works for you, by all means, go for it. You can't really go by what the letter/number code for flex says, anyway- there are no standards. Some brands' "S" might be another's "R" or "X"... there aren't even standards within a brand, for that matter. It's very possible you're playing a driver and iron shafts that are the same flex if they're measured on a frequency machine and don't know it, just as it's possible that you're playing a "true" "S" in the driver and "true" "R"'s in the irons...

There are plenty of golfers, pro and amateur, that do what you do. Don't sweat it too much.
