Physics vertical centripetal motion in 2D question?
An object attached to the end of a string swings in a vertical circle of radius 2.2 m. At an instant when the angle =37 deg, the speed of the object is 14 m/s and the tension in the string is 50 N. What is the mass m of the object in kg?
Sorry I cannot draw you guys the figure but the problem pretty much sums it up. I tried to do it but keep getting 0.56 kgs, which is wrong.

Let:
T be the tension in the string,
m be the mass of the object,
g be the acceleration due to gravity,
r be the radius of the circle,
v be the object's velocity,
a be the angle of the string measured upwards from the vertical line joining the centre of the circle to the lowest point.
I am assuming the string is at 37deg. to the vertical, and below the centre of the circle. Other interpretations are possible, and will yield different results.
Resolving along a radius:
T - mg cos(a) = mv^2 / r
m(v^2 / r + g cos(a)) = T
m = T / (v^2 / r + g cos(a))
= 50 / (14^2 / 2.2 + 9.81 cos(37))
= 0.52 kg.

Traditionally, in tournaments a draw is worth a half point to each player, while a win is worth one point to the victor and none to the loser.
