Value of single barrel, choke bored, side hammer 12 gauge shotgun marked "CLUB GENUINE ARMORY STEEL" & 8409.?
I have a single barrel, choke bored, side hammer 12 gauge shotgun. The only markings are a stamp on the barrel saying "CLUB GENUINE ARMORY STEEL" and the numbers 8409 on the stock. It belonged to my great great grandfather and I believe it is an antique. It has a 24" barrel, no plating, and no manufactures name or stamp. Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to value this for my home owner's insurance. Thanks.

You can google Crescent, and they made a ton of "Hardware Store" guns. I have a side by side Essex with 30 inch barrels and exposed hammers. I paid 125 bucks for it as a wall hanger, and later found out that's about what its worth. Genuine armory steel simply means its not a Damascus twist barrel. The club was founded in 1891. In 1995 the club was purchased by the English Golf Union, who have since relocated their headquarters onto the site, which is now known as the National Golf Centre. Woodhall Spa has two golf courses, the Hotchkin, which opened in 1905 and was originally laid out by Harry Vardon before being redesigned by Stafford Vere Hotchkin in the 1920s, and the Bracken, designed by Donald Steel and opened in 1998. The club has hosted many prestigious amateur championships including the English Amateur and the Brabazon Trophy on several occasions. The Club $74.59 <p>In 1999, the hurlers of St Joseph's Doora-Barefield won the All-Ireland club championship. That winter, they became only the second club in history to win successive Munster club titles, and the following March they became the only Munster club to reach successive All-Ireland club finals. </p><p> </p><p> Ten years on, St Joseph's is in a totally different place, well down the pecking order not just nationally, but in County Clare. the senior team is still spearheaded by many members of the 1999 All-Ireland winning team, who are raging at the dying of the light. </p><p> </p><p> At the beginning of the 2009 season, the team, club and parish were deeply wounded by two family tragedies. One of those tragedies - the sudden death of one member of the 1999 team - cut deep into the soul of the senior team. And that was not the last tragedy to strike the club ... </p><p> </p><p> As part of the healing process, the senior team made a pact to honour the memory of those lost by defying the odds and becoming county champions once again.
